UPenn Alumni Interview Blog

This is my blog on my experience in my Penn alumni interview!

Today was my very first interview from an Ivy League university. A recent alumni from UPenn emailed me a week ago and we scheduled an interview. I was shocked and excited about my first ever interview. I prepared really hard for this, scanning the website and researching a ton about the college. I learned about the ABC's program, sectors of knowledge, and the Locust Walk, things I thought I needed to know to be well prepared. I also did a mock interview and just filled out my Google Doc on facts or traditions at UPenn.

Then, the day came—January 8th. 5:00 P.M. Time started ticking as 4:55 approached 4:58. My heart started to beat faster as time slowly went by. At 5, I was logged into the Zoom call for my first ever interview.

She was very warm and nice. I had the opportunity to ask a TON of questions like Why Penn? or Describe a day in the life at Penn. She didn't really ask about activities on my resume, rather she asked about my background and fun things to do at Penn. She mentioned freshman seminars, which were like small-sized classes designed so students can work together and collaborate. She also talked about the many food-trucks at Penn and how one of them had this really nice lady who served breakfast sandwiches. I loved how she talked about traditions and unique aspects of Penn and engage me into the conversation. She didn't have much questions for me so I just used that as an opportunity to share mine. Overall it was a great experience!
