Internship Blog #20- THE VERY LAST INTERNSHIP BLOG!

Saying goodbye to Attleboro Dental...

These are my last words on my internship blog series. From June, I worked at Attleboro Dental and it became my second home. 8-6 shifts were long, but I learned lot from it. The countless stories from Laura and Laima and being the front desk is officially coming to a close.

I think back to the early stages of this experience, like learning all the intricacies of the Easy Dental App and learning greeting skills by observing Laura's social abilities. I began to step out of the front desk role and learn small dental facts like the nerve inside tooth and the difference between a crown and a crown cement. I also cleaned chairs, which instilled a diligent mindset in me. I learned how to print X-rays and prescribe patients, realizing the integral role of the front desk aside from checking in patients. Through this internship, I finally got a glimpse of was I would do in the future.

Apart from being exposed to a dental office, there were other things I learned along the way. 8-6 shifts were something I never was used to ever because school would only be from 8:30 to 2:20. Effective communication with coworkers and patients was crucial when someone was tired or cranky. Talking to me was beyond just words and phrases; it was powerful and bonded everyone together.

I am grateful to be a part of this summer internship. I went through the highs and lows at this place, from fighting sleep and dealing with patients to receiving gifts and sharing stories. This experience is like no other. It's going to be very hard to let this go. I thank God and everyone who's been a part of this journey of mine. I'm a new person from this, a dentist in the making.
