Back at Raynham!
Today was the second last day of interning at Raynham. I scanned a binder-worth of paperwork, which I did in probably 10 minutes, because over the weeks of experience, scanning became second nature. I talked with Jill, the office manager, a lot and with couple of the patients I've meet before. The office was a welcoming environment, giving me the freedom to talk away.
I didn't call a lot of patients because Jill usually did the calling, but I did check in patients and communicate with some. Not a lot happened, but one thing I realized was the skill needed to cope with little kids when doing a dental procedure. One patient, who was a 5-year-old boy, began to whine and scream when the hygenist tried to look inside his mouth. As a future dentsit, I need to master these skills for kids like him, and honestly, Sunday school is a great way to develop my skills. By singing songs with them, I can understand their feelings and act accordingly. With little kids, you kind of have to act "babyish" in sense like you have to act super nice and friendly to convince them to do anything. Just being in a dental environment provides me with the realities of of the field of dentistry.
