Denture Cleaning Blog #6
Finally back at nursing home!
Today I was back at Madonna Manor to clean dentures! Earlier one of the residents got Covid-19, so we couldn't go for the past month. Fortunutely, we could today, so I was really excited to be back.
We set up the utlrasound in the utility room, pulled out cleaning tablets and toothbrushes, put our gloves on, and went right to work. I met the lady on the first floor who I always meet, Virginia. After cleaning, she was super thankful, which was wholesome. I cleaned several other ones, until I had the chance to meet the lady I became really close with in the past month: Connie. She was on the third floor, and when I peeped inside her room to say hello, she instantly recognized me. She definitely looked different because of aging, but her bright smile and positive energy was still there. She pointed out the Polaroid picture of us, which was placed right next to her family picture. She definitely missed me and asked when I'll be back, so we caught on all we missed. I told her I was busy with college admissions, while she told her stories of her past. I made sure I scrubbed extra hard with the toothbrush on her dentures (they were really clean anyway), and gently gave them back. After talking with Connie for couple minutes, I said I had to leave so she said good-bye. It's these moments that really bring you joy.
